Another perfect adaptation of our literature classic. The film is great in all aspects: choice of actors, performance, camera-work, direction... whatever you take. The main character Alexander Andreyevich Chatsky is brought to life by Mr Mikhail Tsaryov, who was playing this hero all through his stage career. It really shows how personal the actor takes this difficult role and lives it - now on the screen. What I want to point out is the vast number of catchy phrases. Till this day we, Russian people, use the one-liners from this play. Of course if I give you the translation, the original "acid" quality will be lost. Therefore, re-bear yourself in Russia, learn the Russian language, read the original book, watch this film, and rejoice. It is simply great that such films are coming out on DVD. Only the quality (either sound or image) is often not good. Any modern adaptation of our classic will most likely be a piece of *beep* if compared to this top-notch production. If you like this feature, don't fail to have a look at another 1952 film - "Revizor".10 out of 10 for this king of satire. Thank you for attention.
