Plot : Angélica 's sister was raped by a guerillero in an imaginary country of South America ;she swears to avenge her unfortunate sibling .As everybody knows, in these countries, there's a revolution every day .Ruiz ,"El Salvatore" rises to power and Angélica thinks he is responsible for her sister's tragedy (since the outrage, she's turned crazy ). So she sets a trap :she invites him for the "Punchos fete " in her "saloon". He's arrested by his rival and sentenced to death .But is he really the one Angélica was looking for?Based on Pierre Benoit's novel "les compagnons d'Ulysse " (Ulysses' companions),the screenplay is a mess ,a jumble ,disjointed, and a preposterous editing does not help .Acting is abysmal :a curly-headed Georges Flamand is supposed to be a noble guerillero who spent some time in Paris and thus is more refined than the roughneck warriors he commands ; the scene when he rebukes his men stiff as a poker is perfectly ridiculous. All happens in a chocolate-box South America .Jan Choux missed his would be pieces de resistance : Angélica 's fete looks cheap and the execution of the prisoners (the-not clay- pigeon shooting) is botched .Viviane Romance was one of the two French femmes fatales of the thirties /forties along with Ginette Leclerc ; the part was tailor made for her although her fight is legitimate here ;her beauty is the only asset of a bomb.
