Arnette Flynn (Jane Withers), a lively and free-spirit young girl, is enjoying the celebrations of her home town's fiftieth anniversary. Her ex-badman grandfather, Hercules Flynn (Walter Brennan) continues his long-going feud with Edward Ralston (Berton Churchill), a local politician, and challenges him to a duel but, for reasons beyond his control , doesn't show up. He gets a chance to save face and prove he isn't a coward when Arnette and her friend Zero (Carl 'Alfalfa' Switzer) overhear a pair of crooks planning to puling a bank robbery during the distractions of the celebrations.
