A major movie production with many prominent stars is being prepared in a film studio. The director is looking for a replacement for his previous leading actress, and since his gaze accidentally falls on the extra Eva, she takes all her courage and applies for the role. In fact, she gets a chance, practices with her boyfriend Paul, is invited to rehearsals with Fritz Kortner and is hired for the lead role. Rumors of an affair with the director arise, which eventually lead to a breakup with Paul. Eva decides to concentrate fully on her career.
