Hungarian immigrant Eva Petrie arrives in New York City, where she meets her Uncle Frank Chase, a subway motorman, and his daughter, Mamie, with whom she will reside in the Bronx. Mamie gets Eva a job at Child's Restaurant on Fifth Avenue and tries in vain to interest her in wealthy men. One morning, Eva meets millionaire James Stackpoole on the subway, and assumes he is a fellow laborer. Later, while working the griddle at a charity bazaar, Eva becomes reacquainted with James and claims that she is an exiled Russian princess. He sees through her deception and pretends to be a chauffeur. After Eva and James are married, she insists that he go into the taxi business. However, Uncle Frank gambles their last payment on the taxi, forcing Eva to borrow money from Mamie's wealthy lover. James then reveals his true position in life, and Eva declares, "This ees Heaven."
