Fannie Brand (Fanny Brice as Fannie Brice) is a West Side girl coping with a difficult sister, Edna Brand (Edna Murphy) and an unhappy love affair with mailman Joe Halsey (Guinn "Big Boy" Williams as Guinn Williams) that becomes a Broadway singing star with the help of Landau (Andrés de Segurola as André De Segurola), a solicitious Broadway producer.
