Little Mary, a youngster of the slums, is left motherless when her father attacks her mother. Alone in the world, her father having deserted her, she creeps into a standing automobile and falls sound asleep. Meanwhile, Bob Daley, engaged to Sylvia Sanford, comes to the home of his fiancée a "little the worse for wear," and she promptly breaks the betrothal. Discouraged and disgusted with himself, he hires an automobile to take him home. It is the car in which the poor youngster has taken refuge from a pitiless world, and as Daley settles back in the cushions he is confronted by the curly head of the child. Moved by the utter helplessness of the little one, Bob takes her to his home, where she is received by Mr. and Mrs. Daley with open arms. Bob's father then notices that something is wrong between Sylvia and his son, and determines to use his influence to bring them together. He uses the child as a medium for the reconciliation and all is well.
